Simulation Theory II

What do I know/what have I looked into already?
  • I know that simulation theory as a concept for millennia, and people have questioned the true nature of reality for just as long.
  • I know that simulation theory is less of a scientific debate, and more of a philosophical debate.
  • I looked into the different types of beings that could potentially create a universal simulation, and their potential motives for doing so.
  • I looked into the topic of free will and determinism, and found out there are ongoing debates as to whether quantum mechanics are the deepest level of physics or whether there is a layer deeper than that
  • I learned about how simulation can be an effective form of making the impossible, possible. I also learned about how simulation can be a form of escapism.
  • I learned a bit about how our brains filter reality and that we are not truly experiencing it.
  • I explored the possibility of being able to hack the simulation, and how we could modify ourselves and the universe around us.
  • I briefly looked into whether or not our experiences are real, and the moral and ethical implications that could have.
  • I explored the idea of god and physics being a consequence of our simulated reality, and them potentially not being absolute.
What things to do I want to go into further?
  • Body modification (cyborgs, genetic augmentation etc).

  • Superpowers.

  • Computer viruses and hacking.

  • Dimensions.

  • Simulation as escapism or as development in knowledge.

  • How different media portrays simulation and their use-cases.

  • Re-writing physics.

  • How the brain perceives and filters reality, our senses and how extra-terrestrial life could have new senses.

  • Memory augmentation/implantation.

Since I won't have too long to research all of these, I'm going to research the most interesting aspects for me personally which are:

  • Hacking (body modification, rewriting physics etc)

  • Real world and fictitious (what their motives and use cases are)

  • Perceptions of reality (how we perceive the world, how other animals perceive it, what new senses could potentially exist)

  • Simulations in media

I'm once again going to use the interrogation method to help find out specific information that helps to develop my ideas.
